Zeitfenster
Zeitfenster is an interfaith pocket calendar developed to mark 1,700 years of Jewish life in Germany. The project explores how design can foster understanding between different communities through an object that is both practical and informative. Rather than functioning as a guide to religion, the calendar uses the familiar act of planning a year as an opportunity to discover cultural and religious perspectives. Jewish, Christian, and Islamic holidays are integrated throughout the calendar and accompanied by concise explanations, while weekdays appear in German, Arabic, and Hebrew. Beyond its scheduling function, Zeitfenster invites reflection through a collection of questions and themes about life, coexistence, and shared values. Openness, flexibility, and transparency also informed the visual design: instead of creating strict separations between traditions, the layout encourages connections and dialogue. The result is a calendar that serves as both an everyday companion and a subtle tool for intercultural exchange.
