AI Experiment – 2024
Festive Bacteria
Festive Bacteria is an experimental image book exploring the strange territory between beauty, disgust, and artificial intelligence. Using Midjourney, I generated a series of fictional bacteria shaped like Christmas ornaments, merging two visual worlds that rarely belong together. What initially began as a playful prompt experiment evolved into a collection of images that feel simultaneously festive, unsettling, and oddly believable. The project embraces AI's tendency to create unexpected connections and visual contradictions. By transforming microscopic organisms into decorative objects, familiar symbols of celebration are reimagined through a biological lens, blurring the boundaries between attraction and discomfort. Presented as a curated image book, festive Bacteria combines irony, visual experimentation, and aesthetic curiosity. Rather than communicating a clear message, the project invites viewers to question why certain forms appear beautiful, strange, or even disturbing—and how AI can reveal surprising relationships between seemingly unrelated ideas.
