Visual Identity & Type Design – 2020

Quarter

For the annual Rundgang exhibition at Folkwang University of the Arts, I developed a custom typeface and visual identity that translated the event's name into a distinctive graphic system. The typeface, Quarter, is constructed entirely from quarter-circle shapes, directly referencing the idea of a “Rundgang” — a circular route through the exhibition spaces showcasing the work of graduating students in communication design, product design, and photography. By reducing letterforms to a simple geometric principle, the typeface creates a strong visual rhythm while remaining flexible across different applications. The circular modules extend beyond typography and become a defining element of the overall identity, connecting posters, signage, and digital media. The project explores how a single formal concept can evolve into a coherent visual language, creating a recognizable and playful identity for an exhibition built around movement, discovery, and creative exchange.
